This weekend is a busy weekend for the city of Negaunee… it is the annual Pioneer Days festivities! It looks like it is going to be a beautiful weekend so I am looking forward to enjoying my first Pioneer Days as a Negaunee city resident!
Here is the schedule of events for the weekend:
Friday, July 8
• Alumni softball games at LaCombe Field, beginning at 6 p.m.
• Continental Breakfast at the Negaunee Senior Center from 9-10:30a.m. – cost $4.00
• NHS Class of 1959 will meet at 10 a.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center.
• Teal Lake Senior Living Open House 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Craft show starting at 10 a.m. and tours of the community
• Fox Negaunee Golf Outing- Registration 8 a.m. / 9:30 a.m. shotgun start at Wawonowin Country Club. $50 per person/ $200 4- man team
• VFW Post 3165 Open House
• Pioneer Days BINGO will begin at 1-4 p.m. in the Negaunee Senior Center. Concession stand available.
• Friday Free Flea market from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Iron St. Set up is free at 9 a.m.
• Range Bank Pioneer Days Celebration from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in bank parking lot. Light snacks provided.
• NHS Class of 1996- 20 Year Reunion 7-11 p.m. at the Negaunee City Center (formerly Negaunee Mall) Cost is $15 per person
• Negaunee Eagles will host an open house and Cookout from noon to 2 a.m. Live music by The Cadillacs from 9 p.m.-1 a.m.
• NHS Class of 1959 will meet at 10 a.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center.
• NHS Class of 1966 will meet at 7 p.m. at the Negaunee Elks.
• NHS Class of 1946 70th Reunion will meet at 11 a.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center.
• NHS Class of 1986 30th Reunion will meet at 6:30 p.m. at Barrs Bar. Cost $10, please call or text 250-9930 for more information
• NHS Class of 2006 10th Reunion will meet at 6 p.m. at Chappers.
• St. Paul School Luncheon at 11:30 a.m. at the Negaunee Senior Center. RSVP Barb @475-9405
• 2nd Annual Mr. Upper Peninsula “Pageant” will take place at 7:30 p.m. at the Historic Vista Theater. Doors open at 7 p.m. Cost $12 general/ $15 VIP seating.
• Pioneer Days Alumni 5k Fun Run/Walk will take place at 11 a.m.at Heritage Trail. Hosted by NHS class of 1994. Registration starts at 10 a.m. Suggested $10 donation. Proceeds go to the Matthew Worthington Scholarship Fund.
Saturday, July 9
• Alumni softball finals and championship at LaCombe Field, beginning at 2 p.m.
• Big Brothers Big Sisters Pioneer Days Run/Walk begins at 8:30 a.m. Registration starting at 7:30 a.m. at Old Towne Park by Negaunee Senior Center. Cost $30
• The 37th annual Pioneer Days Parade begins at 11:30 a.m. Line-up begins at 10:30 a.m. at Negaunee Senior Center.
• VFW Post 3165 Open House and live entertainment beginning at 1 p.m.
• Negaunee Eagles will host an open house and Cookout from10 a.m. to 2 a.m.
•Pioneer Days Community Picnic takes place from 1 p.m. until dusk at Teal Lake, featuring food, music, children’s activities and more.
• Firefighters Tournament begins at 1 p.m. at Teal Lake.
• Negaunee Elks Open House & Cookout from 10:30 a.m.- 2 p.m., cudighs, hamburgers, brats & hot dogs. Come and greet MI Elks State President – Peter Gadzinski of Negaunee Lodge #1116
• The Negaunee Fireworks Display begins at dusk over Teal Lake.
